about

"Just the wind rustling the trees, and a moonlit soliloquy"

I've always had a rocky relationship with religion, or even faith in general. Growing up, I went to Catholic all the way from elementary school through until I finished high school. Even as a kid I doubted my religion, but didn't dare speak up about my doubts because I didn't want to get in trouble.

Later in my life I ended up completely renouncing all religion, and the last straw for me was all the times, where in my most desperate state of mind, when I felt there was no hope left at all, I tried praying. I did this a few times, and never got any response. No epiphany, no signs, nothing. Everything I've done to get through my once crippling depression was all on my own, and not the doing any supernatural forces.

lyrics

My eyes awaken to nothing but the black emptiness
Taste of fermented grain still lingers on my breath
While my heart pounds like a freight train in my chest
No rest for my eyes from faint indistinct outlines
My mind races faster as I start to think
Of endings in failure and going down in flames
A blaze of glory or incinerated dreams
These thoughts they haunt me like a ghost
As the anxiety gets worse
Restlessness gives out to desperation
Of how I need someone
To save me from
The hand life has dealt

But I can't keep waiting for a savior to come
I can't keep waiting for a savior
Oh I can't keep waiting for a savior to come
I can't keep waiting for a savior

So I've learned to revel in the dark
Where nothing's as it seems
Nothing makes any sense
But the fabrications that you weave
Light would shed truth
On what I don't wanna see
So leave me
In the shadows and just let me be
As I wait for the coming
Of the inevitable sun

But I can't keep waiting for a savior to come
I can't keep waiting for a savior
Oh I can't keep waiting for a savior to come
I can't keep waiting for a savior

My mind racing all night
Collapse from exhaustion
Fall to my knees and
Pray for everything I've always wanted but never gotten
No answer, no surprise
Just the wind rustling the trees
And a moonlit soliloquy
